Air monitoring and visual inspection

When an asbestos removal task is finished, it’s essential that before the area is reoccupied that a visual inspection is undertaken to ensure it is well cleaned and that all asbestos waste has been properly removed.

Note that this is a legal requirement for all Class B removals over 10m2 and all Class A friable asbestos under workplace health and safety legislation.

 
 

Licensed Assessor Requirements

As per the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011, particular functions in regards to Class A asbestos removal work must be undertaken by an independent and licensed assessor.

These functions are:

  • Smoke test inspection on all friable removal enclosures
  • Background air monitoring during removal
  • Clearance air monitoring after removal
  • Visual clearance inspections
  • Clearance certificate issuing
